“Uhmmmm…The first Gorillaz album, our debut record, was more Russel’s…like…lots of hip-hop funk and Cuban dub stars. Demon Days right, came more from Noodle and her dark doomy demos that she made, and all of her contemplations on the world ‘in a place of night’. Plastic Beach cam out mainly from Murdoc’s head, all of his mucky exploits and global collaborations and legendary mash-ups recorded on the Plastic Beach island in the middle of the ocean. Very rum and piratey…
And this one The Fall is mostly just me…something more gentle and just…well…it’s just me and an iPad really mucking about…trying out some stuff. Just looking at America and then tapping on the screen…I’m not really concentrating too hard on it…So, right, each album got all of us on it somewhere, but each time it’s…more one of us than the others…Well, that’s how I see it anyway”

Jónsi wins the inaugural Nordic Music prize
‘Go’ by Jónsi was winner of the inaugural nordic music prize for the “best album of 2010″. As HRH Crown Prince Haakon Magnus of Norway says in his introduction (quoting “the jury”); “The music of the winner can only have been made here, in the north. It sounds and almost smells like Iceland. It’s brave and life-affirming pop music that grabs you by the heart in flamboyant technicolour. Check out Jónsi’s acceptance speech (thanks to http://millimedia.no/ for the video)
You can read more about the prize and the full comments from the jury at the Nordic Music website.

It’s been confirmed on the Glastonbury Festival website that Coldplay will headline the Pyramid Stage on Saturday night at this year’s festival, on June 25th.
“Coldplay have played such a major part in the Festival over the last 10 years or so,” said Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis. “As their popularity grew around the world I was so proud of them. This is the triumphant return of a band that everyone here feels part of. They’re one of the greatest phenomena to grow from these fields.”
This will be the band’s first appearance at the legendary festival since 2005. Tickets for the Festival sold out months ago, but a limited resale of cancelled tickets is expected in April (though you do need to be registered in order to buy tickets).
